Israeli warplanes launched airstrikes on Tuesday, targeting the villages of al-Khiam and Mayfadoun in the Nabatiyeh region, while Hezbollah attacked Avivim in northern Israel.
Hezbollah claimed to have attacked a building used by Israeli soldiers in Avivim in retaliation for Israeli attacks on civilians in southern Lebanon.
On Monday, an Israeli airstrike killed three people, including two Hezbollah fighters and a paramedic.
Tensions have risen significantly since last week, with Iran and Tehran-backed groups such as Hezbollah vowing to retaliate for the assassination of Hamas’ political leader in Tehran and the Israeli killing of Hezbollah’s military chief in Beirut.
Since Hamas attacked Israel on October 7 and triggered the Gaza War, Hezbollah has exchanged fire with Israel almost every day in support of Hamas.
The latest killings have heightened fears of an all-out war between Israel and Hezbollah, reminiscent of the summer 2006 conflict.
