Dam Press:
Lebanese security authorities have evacuated a town in the north of the country after warning displaced Syrians to return occupied properties to their Lebanese owners.
“In order to implement the decision of the Lebanese government and following a warning issued by the Northern National Security Agency not long ago to the displaced Syrians in the Lebanese town of Kfar Hab, the National Security Forces conducted patrols in order to vacate the properties they occupied and return them to the Lebanese owners,” the General Directorate of National Security said in a statement. “All illegal Syrian refugees in the town were evacuated and the houses of all those who refused to implement the decision were sealed with red wax.”
It is worth noting that since 2011, Syrian refugees have entered Lebanon randomly through legal and illegal crossings and are spread across most parts of Lebanon in refugee camps and rented apartments.
As part of its efforts to regulate the Syrian presence in Lebanon, the Ministry of the Interior has tasked governorates and municipalities with counting displaced Syrians within their jurisdiction, strictly controlling where they live and work, and submitting regular reports every 15 days on the measures it has taken to curb violations and eliminate illegal practices.
In the past few months, public security agencies have stepped up their efforts to combat violations in the parallel economy and employment and residence sectors in Syria, arresting thousands of people and closing hundreds of illegal institutions.
