The Lautoka Football Association has called for an independent committee to investigate possible foul play following the Lautoka Football Club’s 6-2 defeat to Navua in the 11th round of the DFPL.

The result shocked fans and players alike and raised suspicions of foul play during the match.

Working with Fiji LiveLautoka Football Association president Shalendra Singh said an experienced team like Lautoka had never lost to any team that scored so many goals.

“We are an experienced team and everyone knows that. Conceding so many goals and losing calls into question our squad and I agree, we shouldn’t have conceded so many goals.

“We have received a number of complaints from fans so we decided to set up this committee and the investigation is ongoing and we will see what the report shows.”

“Any player found involved in foul play will be removed from the team and will be penalised,” Singh assured.

We are awaiting the results of the investigation to determine next steps for next weekend’s Battle of the Giants.
