There was heavy smoke and flames in neighbourhoods southeast of Calgary. Deer Run Sunday.
Around 6:15 p.m., emergency crews were called to a home along Deer Run Drive, where the house was completely destroyed by fire.
In a press release issued Sunday evening, Calgary Fire Department “Due to the intensity of the fire and the spread of flames to neighboring properties, this fire was upgraded to a level 2 alarm,” the department said.

The department’s aerial firefighting unit used ladder trucks to battle the blaze from above, facing what it called “difficult conditions” with temperatures exceeding 30 degrees Celsius.
Emergency personnel took a woman to hospital for further observation. No other casualties were reported.
Officials said four homes were affected by the fire, displacing five residents. Two of the homes were expected to be reoccupied by Sunday evening, but the other two were severely damaged.
The cause is still under investigation.
