Landmark Hospitality Renovates 19th Century Grand Summit Hotel into The Albion Summit

The historic building, which dates back to the 19th century, will once again be lit up as Landmark Hospitality plans to open The Albion Summit in the coming days.

The former Grand Summit Hotel, located at 570 Springfield Avenue in Summit, was originally built as Blackburn House in 1868. Since the closing of the previous incarnation, the renovated property now features a curated array of amenities, including acclaimed restaurants, co-working space and state-of-the-art event space.

We have meticulously restored the building’s original charm while introducing innovative features to create a space that meets the needs of today’s travelers and locals.”

Albion Summit Restaurant will offer full dining service and will be located in the renowned Felina RestaurantThe 60-foot open kitchen is the highlight of the space, and the restaurant’s dining room features a fireplace, a 60-seat bar surrounding a wine room, and a bar with a stepped design.

Highlights of the hotel’s renovation, undertaken by Black Dog Construction, include The Living Room, a light-filled co-working space featuring The Muddy Cup self-service coffee bar, which transforms into a cocktail lounge in the evening and features two private meeting rooms.

The Albion Summit Hotel’s event hall was also renovated, but retains its original stained-glass windows and two-story fireplace. The eight chandeliers use crystal from the hotel’s past ballrooms.

Other notable features of the remodeled hotel include an amphitheater-style cinema with a concession stand, an upscale whiskey lounge with cigar and spirit cabinets, and a private dining room located in the wine cellar that offers an intimate setting.

Albion Summit opens this weekend, but the brand’s run here isn’t over yet. The hotel will also house an outpost of The Stork Club, a members-only social space that has a location in Jersey City, as well as a spa, a Japanese listening suite and sushi restaurant, a recording and podcasting suite operated by The Stone Pony, and another 9,000 square feet of event space.

Plans are already underway to open a second outpost in Albion to create a historic Former Bank Located in downtown Jersey City, the project has not yet been approved due to some controversial building heights. The application, also undertaken by Landmark Hospitality, is expected to be heard by the city’s zoning board in October.
