The acquisition of TIM’s power grid company Netco by US investment fund KKR is the first piece of a jigsaw puzzle to solve Italy’s history, Italian Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti said after the deal on Monday.
“Today’s closure is the first step in resolving this country’s historic problems and a key step in restructuring Italy’s telecommunications system,” he said.
“The government is intervening in a strategic sector and implementing a significant industrial policy, which includes ensuring the safety of TIM and its workers”.
