Jamaican Kishane Thompson crossed the finish line to win silver in the men’s 100m at the Paris Olympics, earning his first global medal.
In the most competitive Olympic sprint final, American Noah Lyles won the gold medal with a personal best of 9.784 seconds, 5 thousandths of a second faster than Thompson (9.789 seconds).
Fred Kerley of the United States won the bronze medal with a personal best of 9.81 seconds.
Jamaican Oblique Seville was hailed as a medal favorite but finished last in eighth place with a time of 9.91 seconds.
