South Sudanese President Salva Kiir on Friday evening ordered all police officers of the rank of brigadier general and above to return to the South Sudan National Police Headquarters.
The order to the state-owned South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC) did not explain the rationale behind the transfer, but cited the South Sudan Revenue Authority Act of 2023.
In other decrees, Kiir dismissed Brigadier General Adoot Ajan Adoot, Commissioner of the Customs and Taxation Department of the South Sudan Revenue Authority.
The president also removed Rachael Nyadak Paul from the South Sudan Revenue Authority board and replaced her with Mary Paul Ngundeng.
Kiir appointed technical advisers including Rachael Nyadak Paul of the peacebuilding ministry, Albino Chol Thiik of the investment ministry, Mayen Wol Jong of the petroleum ministry and Aggrey Tisa Sabuni of the South Sudan Revenue Authority.
In other decrees, Kiir revoked the appointments of SPLM-IO members Angelina Aweng, Abraham Akon, Garang Chan Atak, Ajar Mataya Maringa and James Jiel Teng, and South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) parliamentary member Ariek Akot Awutiek in Northern Bahr el Ghazal state.
He named SPLM-IO members Santino Garang Awek, Philip Akok Deng Kuei, Awaya Makuei and Theresa Alor Adup Athiang and SSOA member Abuk Reech Kuol as his successors.
