Baku Shipyard contributes to Azerbaijan’s industrial growth and national development.

Chairman of the board, Elshad Nureyev, reportedly spoke about this in a Euronews video Vesti.az.

He stressed the strategic importance of shipyards in Azerbaijan’s industrial ecosystem and the significant contribution of enterprises to the country’s economic development. A striking example is the Khankendi ship built by Baku Shipyard, which played a decisive role in the underwater work of the second stage of the Shah Deniz project, through which the main supply of natural gas to Europe is currently underway.

Mr. Nuriev immediately proposed three key performance indicators (KPIs) to optimize factory operations upon taking office. The first KPI focuses on improving manufacturing processes by incorporating technology into training courses, especially using augmented reality technology in welding processes to improve efficiency, accuracy and safety. The second key indicator focuses on upgrading worker skills by collaborating with local educational institutions such as ADA University and vocational schools to improve operational efficiency and skill levels.

The third key principle focuses on environmental sustainability, with initiatives including the use of bicycles for internal transportation, the installation of solar panels, and the maintenance of an efficient water treatment system, which also benefits nearby factories. It also has a strong focus on research and development, particularly in the areas of human-machine interface and smart sensor technology.

Mr. Nureyev stressed the importance of teamwork in achieving these goals, praising the joint efforts of the shipyard’s engineers, workers and support staff. He firmly believes that the coordinated interaction of people, technology and objects is essential to achieving the goals and transforming the Baku Shipyard into a full-fledged innovative engineering center.
