Kazakhstan to consider possibility of exporting gasoline to neighboring countries

Central Asia (KZ) The supply situation of fuel and lubricants in Kazakhstan has improved, and fuel exports may be possible in the future. Energy Minister Almasaddam Satykaliev stated this at a government meeting.

He noted that according to the results of the first four months of 2024, the refining volume reached 5.9 million tons, which is 105.4% of the same period in 2023 (5.6 million tons). The output of petroleum products was 4.28 million tons, which is 94% of the same period in 2023 (4.55 million tons).

The current status of the petroleum product production market is as follows:

  • Total reserves of diesel in refineries, tank farms and railways have increased. A total of 612,000 tons or 38 days, AI-92 gasoline – 352,000 tons or 30 days, AI-95 gasoline – 86,000 tons or 30 days, stocks are replenished with the production of fuels and lubricants and applications submitted by regions;
  • The refining depth is increased, and the light oil output is increased from 85% to 87%;
  • On May 5, the Chimkent Refinery completed its planned maintenance and the unit is operating normally.

At the same time, it is planned to increase the production of petroleum products through expansion:

  • Increase the capacity of the Aktau asphalt plant from 10,000 tons to 1.5 million tons (by 2025);
  • Shymkent refinery capacity to increase from 60,000 to 12 million tons (2030);
  • Atyrau refinery output to increase from 55,000 to 6.7 million tons (2027);
  • The production capacity of the Pavlodar petrochemical plant will increase from 55,000 tons to 8 million tons (by 2030).

“The implementation of these projects will allow to meet 100% of the growing demand for fuel and lubricants in the domestic market, as well as export petroleum products to neighboring countries,” the Minister of Energy said.
