Kassem-Jomart Tokayev and Denis Sassou-Nghesso held expanded talks with the participation of official delegations from both countries.
The head of state noted that the first visit of the Congolese president to the territory of Kazakhstan coincides with the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
– We consider the Republic of Congo an important partner of the African continent. The two countries are far apart. Nevertheless, we are interested in the comprehensive development of bilateral relations. Kazakhstan and Congo have great potential for cooperation. In particular, we should strengthen cooperation in the fields of economy and trade, agriculture, transport and logistics, mining, production and investment, new technologies, space development, etc. We believe that the documents signed today will give new impetus to the development of political and economic cooperation. To prove our intentions, we will appoint an ambassador to Congo, the President said.
For his part, Denis Sassou-Nguesso said that Kassem-Jomart Tokayev’s decision to appoint a diplomatic representative to Congo will strengthen mutual cooperation.
– In fact, your decision clearly shows your desire to develop cooperation between Kazakhstan and Congo. The two governments have reached a number of agreements on projects that we agree to implement. This will undoubtedly benefit both countries. I would like to point out that in recent years, Kazakhstan has made great achievements in development. The Congolese President said that we are interested in strengthening economic cooperation with your country.
The two heads of state discussed the prospects for the development of the Kazakh-Congo partnership, with particular attention paid to expanding cooperation in the fields of trade and economy, energy, transport logistics, finance, digitalization, mining, and cultural and humanitarian fields.
After the negotiations, Denis Sassou-Nguesso invited Kassem-Jomart Tokayev to visit Congo.
