Kazakhs are reportedly discussing a video shot at the Munaishy Stadium in Atyrau Tengri News Network.
The author photographed the unsatisfactory conditions of the stadium’s toilets. “In this regard, a stupid question arises – if we don’t have the money to fix toilets at home, why should we invest hundreds of millions of dollars in foreigners who suddenly get sick or lose miserably before a game?”asked Mikhail Kozachikov, the journalist who published the video.
The Atyrau region sports department noted that the Munaishy Sports and Recreation Center was built in 1950 and was on the balance sheet of the Atyrau akimat until 2018. Six years ago, the sports facility was transferred to the state body “Atyrau Region Ministry of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism”.
“Currently, the design and estimate documentation for the reconstruction of the facility is being prepared by Kazakhenergoprom, and it is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2024,” the Atyrau regional sports department said, according to Tengrinews.kz.
It is worth noting that the Munaihi Stadium is the home ground of Atyrau FC, which participates in the Kazakhstan Super League. On August 11, the club played against Aktobe at home (1:1).
The Kazakh Olympic team won seven medals at the Games in the French capital. The only gold medal went to judoka Eldos Smetov, who became the best athlete in the 60 kg category.
