Soja Jean André, also known as Kaleta, who died Thursday evening, according to his relatives, was a man of many talents, an influential politician and a well-known businessman in the city of Toliara, who left behind a mixed record, marked by success but also many enemies.
Kaleta is a political veteran. In 2022, he was appointed Special Adviser to Andry Rajoelina for Political Affairs and is a member of the Political Bureau of the presidential platform IRMAR, to which his Liaraike party belongs. Kaleta has served as deputy, senator, member of the High Council of Transition (CST), technical adviser to former Prime Ministers Francisque Ravony and Emmanuel Rakotovahiny, and before joining the Andry Rajoelina regime, he worked in the Political Office of TIM.
In the business world, he was the head of the Kaleta Group and successfully diversified his investments into many sectors, especially the hotel industry.
