Operatives of the Kaduna State Police have arrested two cattle thieves who are notorious gun smugglers in the state.
It was gathered that security operatives also foiled a kidnapping attempt in a separate operation in the northern states and seized a fake AK-47 rifle loaded with ammunition.
Kaduna police spokesman Mansir Hassan said in a statement released to the public on Sunday that the suspect was arrested on Saturday.
Hassan added that those arrested were Dahiru Liman, 47, and Sani Abdullahi Makeri, 45, who reside in Kaduna and Katsina respectively.
The statement read in part: “During the operation, police arrested two suspects: Aminu Saleh, a 25-year-old male, and Jafar Ibrahim, a 24-year-old male.

“During interrogation, the suspects admitted to their involvement in the criminal activities and revealed that they were working with four other syndicate members who are currently at large.
“Similarly, on August 22, 2024, a person named Shafiu Abdullahi reported to Operation Fushin kada that he received a threatening call demanding N10 million, the caller threatened that if the ransom was not paid, they would kidnap him.
“The pursuit and response team immediately sprang into action, using advanced technology to locate and capture the suspect.
“Also, on August 24, 2024, operatives arrested two suspects for allegedly supplying arms and ammunition to kidnappers operating in Kaduna, Katsina and Zamfara States.
“The suspects are identified as Dahiru Liman, 47, from Garinkulama village in Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State, and Sani Abdullahi Makeri, 45, from Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State. During the operation, police seized a counterfeit AK-47 rifle and five rounds of 9mm live ammunition.
“The suspect confessed to the crime and other illegal and criminal activities he had been engaged in for a long time.”
