Jamaican judge Winston Anderson has been appointed President of the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ).
Anderson was appointed by Deacon Mitchell, Prime Minister of Grenada and current Chairman of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community, to serve from 2 August to 16 September.
The current president, Judge Adrian Saunders, is on leave.
Anderson was appointed to the CCJ in June 2010 and is currently the most senior judge.
Pursuant to Article VIII, paragraph 1, of the Agreement Establishing the Caribbean Court of Justice, the functions of the President of the Court “shall be performed by the most senior member of the Court at the date of appointment, who shall be appointed by a letter signed by the incumbent President of the Conference” until the President resumes his functions.
