The donation, aimed at promoting digitisation and judicial efficiency, included 12 state-of-the-art computers, a draft copy of the Revised Rules of the High Courts and a draft copy of the Induction Training Manual for Judges of the Judicial Training Institute. The presentation was hosted by a four-member team led by Ms. Ya Amie Touray.

USAID’s generous support through ABA is a continuation of its ongoing commitment to the implementation of the Justice Strategic Plan. A core objective of the plan is to digitize the operations of the judiciary, reform its procedural rules, and enhance the capacity of judicial training institutions, thereby improving the efficiency and accessibility of justice in The Gambia.

Over the years, the ABA has played a key role in this digital transformation, most notably by supporting the development of a comprehensive electronic case management system, which is currently in the pilot phase. They have also assisted in the development of a manual for the induction of judges and have led the revision of the High Court Rules through a consultancy project with AB and Co Consultants.

These forward-looking initiatives are expected to streamline case proceedings, enable online payment of court fees, and support local onboarding and ongoing training of judges, all of which are key steps towards a more efficient and modern judicial system.

In his speech, the Chief Justice expressed his deep gratitude to the American Bar Association and said that their unwavering support was crucial in achieving the Judiciary Strategic Plan. He praised the American Bar Association as a steadfast partner in the journey towards a digital and efficient judicial system.

This partnership underscores the shared commitment of both parties to strengthening the rule of law and improving access to justice for all Gambians.
