Prosecutors initially requested a prison sentence, which was not imposed. In the witness stand, the defendants all raised political issues, expressed regret, and said: “We wouldn’t be here if there wasn’t a plan to unfreeze the electorate.”
The verdict: The detained gunman was ultimately sentenced to five years in prison for shooting at law enforcement officers. A man accused of transporting the weapons was sentenced to three years, two of which were suspended. The last year was suspended so he could wear an electronic bracelet. The defense has not yet indicated that it intends to appeal the verdict.
“I believe that these are good decisions considering the penalties imposed, so I regret to say that although the court does not want to hear from us about one of the main people involved in this matter because the court sentenced him to five years in prison, I would like to hope that the court will take into account the current circumstances. said defense attorney Stéphane Bonono.
