August 13, 2024 (Juba) – 582 South Sudanese youths aged between 15 and 29 have graduated after completing a four-month training under the Youth Empowerment Activities (YEA) program of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
The International Youth Day commemoration ceremony was held on August 12.
USAID’s Youth Empowerment Project, in partnership with civil society organizations and volunteer youth trainers, targeted 317 women and 265 men between the ages of 15 and 29.
The four-month program includes strengthening numeracy and literacy skills as well as work experiences to develop life and employability skills, USAID said in a news release.
Participants also received information on sexual reproductive health and how to resolve individual and community conflicts through nonviolent advocacy and action.
The graduates in Juba join more than 7,000 youth who have participated in YEA. By the end of the year, nearly 14,000 youth across South Sudan will have benefited from the program.
