Juan Carlos Rojas, president of Sporting Club Saprissa, will continue to lead the club for at least three years. This was decided by the institution’s ordinary and extraordinary general meetings, which approved not only Rojas but also the entire board of directors.
Roxas addressed the media after the convention and announced that he will continue to lead Saprissa, a position he has held for 13 years since taking office in April 2011.
“I am very happy and very satisfied with this meeting. Several shareholders were present and all the items on the agenda were approved unanimously. I think there was great satisfaction with the issue of reporting on the work done and the financial statements; we saw two periods and they were approved unanimously,” declared Juan Carlos Rojas.

The Purple President explained how his continuity process as leader of Saprissa is taking place.
“A provision in the charter was amended to change the term of the board from two years to three years. Another change was made to the statutes to include a substitute prosecutor, which is a good practice, and the term of the board is for those three years,” said Rojas, who added that there was already a board he had been working on and the substitute prosecutor was added.
“The continuity of the current directive has been approved. The term of the board has expired and since the term is two years, it is time to elect a new board, in this case, to re-elect the board. After the amendment, the term is now three years.”
– He has been the president of Saprissa for 13 years. How long are you willing to stay in this position?
– For now, I will stay for three years, and later we will see how I feel and whether the partners want me to continue. I don’t have a specific deadline for completion; I think I have goals to achieve and some legacy I want to leave. We still have a lot of work to do and some important things for the future of Saprissa. At the moment, we have energy, belief and enthusiasm.
Topics discussed at the ordinary and extraordinary general meetings of Saprissa shareholders include: discussion, approval or rejection of the President’s report; discussion, approval or rejection of the audited financial statements for 2022-2023; understanding of the prosecutor’s report; amendment of Article 19 of the Articles of Association; amendment of Article 25 of the Articles of Association; appointment of the Board of Directors and financial positions; granting of power of attorney to attend the notary public to formally sign the agreement; and declaration that the agreement has come into effect.
