Minister of Labour and Foreign Employment Manusha Nanayakkara, in a note on her X-account, said 24 people, including Sri Lankan artists, were arrested by Kuwaiti authorities during the “Sri Lanka Summer Nights” concert organised by the Kuwait branch of the “Ethera Api” organisation.
It is said that those arrested include the organizers of the concert and several Sri Lankan artistes, including Indrachapa, Jolly Siya, Upekha Darmini, Samanali Fonseka, Mubarak and others.
However, the minister’s X message further stated that the embassy in the country has been informed of the matter and is working with the Kuwaiti authorities to release the group as soon as possible.
