After achieving great success The first Sip Over eventJohnnie Walker Uganda on Friday hosted trailblazing women who are taking bold steps in the world of golf.

Held at the picturesque Uganda Golf Club, the second edition of Sip Over was an inspiring and dynamic evening dedicated to women who excel on and off the golf course. The stylish event marked a new milestone for the Johnnie Walker ‘She Walks’ mentorship programme, which launched in March as a ground-breaking initiative to uplift women across a range of fields and industries. The programme has quickly become a force to be reckoned with, inspiring and uniting like-minded women, creating a space for them to inspire and mentor each other, while sharing stories of success.

Caroline Ampaire, Media Manager at Uganda Breweries Limited, spoke passionately about the importance of the She Walks programme: “This programme is very close to my heart as it is about progress, breaking boundaries and celebrating women who, like Johnnie Walker, continue to move forward boldly. Tonight we celebrated the incredible women in golf, learned from their journeys and, of course, sampled the very best that Johnnie Walker has to offer.”

The event was a delightful blend of celebration, whisky instruction and education in the style of Sip Over. Hosted by Wendy Angudeyo, the female captain of the Uganda Golf Club, the female golfers enjoyed a sumptuous dinner, whisky instruction and exquisite food pairing classes. Guests were immersed in a rich immersive experience of Johnnie Walker whisky, exploring its unique variants and learning how to best enjoy them.

With the gift-giving season just around the corner, the ladies took advantage of Johnnie Walker’s offerings, including the free customisation and personalisation of every bottle of Johnnie Walker’s iconic whisky purchased with a message and name from their loved ones. The focus of the evening was the spirit of resilience.

The keynote speaker, Ms. Doreen Mwesije, President of the Uganda Women’s Golf Union, captured the attention of the attendees by giving an inspiring comparison between real life and the game of golf, citing examples of the endless challenges in life and the swings and scores on the course.

“One bad hole shouldn’t stop you from overcoming failure and disappointment. In golf, as in life, you should always move forward toward your dreams,” she shared.

Doreen recounts her entrepreneurial journey, sharing stories of resilience, such as her infamous bus business failure, which did not stop her but encouraged her to build her now thriving empire of four businesses.

The event attracted many outstanding women, including Eva Magara, former president of the Uganda Women’s Golf Union, Ann Abeka, the first female professional golfer, Flavia Namakula, Uganda national team coach, and Charity Atuhaire, the female captain of Mary Louis Club Namulonge.

The Sip Over event comes at a perfect time as Johnnie Walker prepares for the 2024 Uganda Open Golf Championship, which kicks off in a few days. It is an evening of passionate conversations, shared successes, a renewed commitment to progress and learning about whisky through immersive Johnnie Walker mentorship.

With the success of its second edition, the Sip Over series of events has quickly become an empowerment movement, fostering a community where women can encourage each other to move forward courageously towards their goals.

The evening ended with a toast to the future, looking forward to progress, guidance and as always, Johnnie Walker whisky.
