He made the announcement on Monday, July 15, 2024, the day Rwandans participated in elections for the presidency of the republic and the House of Representatives.

At almost all polling stations in Nyagatare district, people had already arrived by 5:00 a.m., even though voting was scheduled to start at 7:00 a.m. At GS Nyagatare, candidates were first sworn in, while many were waiting for the election of the President and Members of Parliament.

Sagisengo Emmanuel and Kabaiza Faustin, who were injured in the country’s liberation struggle, said they were the first to arrive at the polling station because they were trained to work ahead and they felt the day had not yet come when they would elect the president they wanted.

They said: “I feel bad about this night because I’ve been waiting for this day. I’ve seen a lot of things, I know where my country came from and where it is, I also know where I came from and where I’m going. Disability is not an excuse for not being the first, we are trained to be the first in everything.”

The 93-year-old Joan of Arc, as I call her, said the candidate chosen by the president loves the country and young people and wishes them a bright future.

“I pray to God that he keeps going and keeps believing in his love for the country and doesn’t back off. I love him so much and pray day and night and look at the state of the country and he is suffering and living with his family,” he said.

Muksimana Solange said the republic’s presidential candidate, for whom he voted, gave him more than his parents had given him, including education for girls.

He said that he knew Jesus Christ, the only savior of the world, since he was a child, but later he saw another savior in Rwanda who also gave voice to his own.
