Jennifer Lopez reportedly feels “disappointed and sad” after filing for divorce from Ben Affleck, but knows “it’s time to move on.”

The 55-year-old pop star was engaged to Hollywood actor Ben, 52, in the early 2000s. The two reconciled in 2021 and held two weddings in 2022, but the relationship has now ended again. Jennifer filed for divorce on Tuesday to end the marriage.

A new report suggests that Jennifer feels it’s time to move on. A source told People magazine: “[She knows]it’s time to move on” for a number of reasons…

“She was very disappointed and sad, but Ben had not indicated to her that he wanted to continue their marriage.

“He has shown no commitment or interest in making the marriage a success. Now she just has to take care of herself.”

The divorce filing comes just two years after the couple’s lavish second wedding in Georgia on August 20, 2022 — a date Jennifer was well aware of, a source told the newspaper.

They said: “She has waited enough and the date of her divorce says it all… (The divorce filing) allows her to take control of the process… It’s a good thing she’s doing this…

“She tried really hard to make things work, but her heart was broken.”

The source went on to insist that the former couple’s combined family is a priority, adding: “The kids are our biggest priority, they always will be.”

Jennifer has 16-year-old twins Max and Amy with ex-husband Marc Anthony, and she is also stepmother to Ben and Jennifer Garner’s children Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and 12-year-old Samuel.

The singer/actress wrote an entire album, This Is Me…Now, inspired by their rekindled romance and even made a movie out of it. She even gushed about the relationship months before their official split, which was set for April 26, 2024.

She told Metro: “I wrote This Was Me… Then more than 20 years ago when Ben and I were in love. As fate would have it, we found our way back into each other’s lives. On the 20th anniversary of This Was Me… Then, I am announcing that I will be writing This Was Me… Now.

“The inspiration was the surreal miracle that happened. He came back into my life and the two of us were reunited in a way that neither of us could have expected, and that inspired me to go into the studio.

“This album just kind of flowed from my heart. It’s just so natural and beautiful, but it was definitely inspired by the fact that I got a second chance at true love.”
