Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said the country needs a new constitution.

“Our country needs a new constitution. I’m not talking about a new text so much as a new way of creating and receiving it. We need a new constitution that the people feel was written and accepted by them, and that contains content that corresponds to their vision of the state they created and the relations between the people and citizens in this state,” Pashinyan said.

As a reminder, Pashinyan said in January that Armenia does not need to amend the constitution, but a new one. He explained this by the changes in the world and in Transcaucasia.

The Prime Minister said that the country should have a constitution adopted by the people in a referendum, the result of which should not raise any doubts, and that this constitution should make Armenia more competitive and viable in the new geopolitical and regional conditions.
