According to the Prosecutor’s Office, one person has been charged for handing over a poor-quality residential complex to 52 citizens. We are talking about the founder of “Tori” LLC. Investigations revealed that the company built a multi-apartment residential building in the Tbilisi settlement of Vaslijivri and handed it over to interested citizens after signing a purchase agreement.
Later, cracks appeared in the building, the concrete began to crack, and the building was no longer fit for operation. The investigation stated that the defendants caused material damage to 52 citizens in the amount of GEL 10,179,224.
On August 29, law enforcement officers arrested him based on the court ruling.
“Since 2022, cracks in different directions have appeared on the load-bearing structure of the residential building, and concrete cracks have developed in the later period. According to the conclusion of the engineering inspection, the use of fiberglass reinforcement in the load-bearing structure of the building does not comply with legal provisions and is in conflict with government decrees and building regulations. The deformation of the house is extremely serious and is not suitable for use.
Through the above actions, the defendant caused material damages in the amount of GEL 10,179,224 to 52 citizens, as he failed to provide them with suitable living space,” the statement reads.
The detainees were charged under article 185, part 3, clause “B” (substantial property damage) of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which carries a penalty of 4 to 6 years’ imprisonment.
The Prosecutor’s Office applied to the court for the detention of the accused for the period prescribed by law as a precautionary measure.
