Aldi launches loyalty program in Belgium: what it will change for customers

In fact, the German discounter chose Belgium to test its first loyalty program, which is only accessible via an app (no physical loyalty cards ed.).

The principle is simple: every time you go to checkout, show your application form and scan your personal QR code. You accumulate points based on your purchases. Certain items also earn you bonus points, depending on promotions or certain actions of the brand. When you reach a certain number of points, you can redeem them for specific items or for discount vouchers at your next checkout. Enough to reduce the bill !
But please note: the test is currently only available to customers who shop in 70 stores in the Hainaut Nord and West Flanders regions. In these stores, customers can accumulate points and redeem them after receiving an application. If you visit these 70 stores on time, you can already accumulate points. On the other hand, if you shop at Aldi in the Liège or Namur regions, your profile will not show your loyalty points. “This is a test phase,” Aldi tells us. Depending on its success, however, the test may be extended…
Two other features have emerged in the app: First, customers who have accumulated these loyalty points can choose digital receipts to reduce paper waste when physical tickets are not needed. All customers (not just those who have the loyalty points feature) can experience a smart shopping list that suggests their own brand when the customer is considering buying another more expensive brand. He will then be offered alternatives in the Aldi brand.
