According to sources inside Pohotuwa, it has been decided to take immediate disciplinary action against members of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna who have united to support Ranil Wickremesinghe in the 2024 presidential election.

Anchi Marga said the letter regarding the matter will be forwarded to the MPs as soon as possible.

The decision was taken at a recent meeting of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Political Committee, which discussed measures to be taken during the presidential election.

After the cancellation of party membership, the MP positions held by these people will also be cancelled, but considering the time required for this process, the parliament may be dissolved and general elections may be announced, so such a decision is impractical. Chandra Sena explained earlier.

Now, groups of MPs opposed to Pohotuwa’s decision have formed another alliance to unite in support of President Ranil Wickremesinghe. State Minister Kanaka Herat said the alliance will be formed in the coming days.
