JAKARTA (ANTARA) – Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi said Israel is taking systematic measures to hinder the delivery of international humanitarian aid, including from Indonesia, to the oppressed Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
“Negotiations on this matter are still ongoing. I think Israel has been trying to systematically obstruct the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza,” she said during a meeting at the Bogor Palace in Bogor, West Java province, on Friday.
Masudi then stressed that the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs had issued an official statement on Thursday (May 16) expressing Indonesia’s concerns about Israel’s insistence on obstructing the inflow of humanitarian aid.
“The latest incidents were the looting (of aid by Israeli civilians) in the presence of the Israeli army,” she said.
The minister also reiterated that Indonesia firmly condemns all actions aimed at hindering the delivery of much-needed humanitarian assistance to Palestinians in Gaza.
She said Indonesia had pushed for sanctions against the looters and stressed the need to take steps to prevent such robberies from happening again.
“We have urged the UN Security Council to prevent this from happening again and ensure the smooth distribution of humanitarian aid,” she noted.

Earlier, the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned in the strongest terms the actions of Israeli settlers in obstructing the distribution of humanitarian aid to countries including Indonesia.
“Indonesia strongly condemns the blockade and looting by Israeli civilians of humanitarian aid provided by the international community to the people of Gaza,” the Indonesian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on its social media accounts on Thursday.
The Israeli Foreign Ministry said that the Israeli extremists’ wanton blockade and looting of humanitarian aid supplies reflects Israel’s opposition to providing aid to the Gaza Strip.
“The responsible parties should be held accountable according to the law and measures should be taken to ensure that such incidents do not occur again,” the ministry stressed.
