According to a press release obtained today by Angolan newspaper Notícias, the Lab Six – Kustus team, composed of students Lourenzo Ferreira, Edifánio Vieira, Dorivaldo Chitângua, Evaristo Martins, Mário Baptista and Albino Evaambi, won first place and will represent the country in the international finals in 2025, with a country and date to be announced.
The second place was taken by the Getting Together team, also made up of ISAF students.
The winning team of this edition received a trophy, five medals, five certificates, a cheque for Akz 1,000,000.00 (One Million Kwanzas) from Mirantes Technology, a training and development award equivalent to five English courses at the London School of English, with a total value of Akz 4,895,500.00 (Four Million Eight Hundred and Ninety-Five Thousand Kwanzas), five Delta Q coffee machines and an all-expenses-paid trip for five team members to the 2024 International Finals.
For Carla Cristina Vilarinho de Sousa Queiroz, ISAF General Director, the award received “reflects the efforts and commitment we have made to develop a different, differentiated, inclusive and reference higher education institution, where everyone works hard and gives their best to achieve the highest goal of promoting effective learning and providing meaningful and enriching experiences for all students”.
A total of 93 teams and 460 university students and professionals from different industries participated in the competition. Among them, 147 members from 32 teams entered the final stage, and finally 8 teams and 40 members entered the live finals. Other notable teams include UAN’s “Mafia Corporation”, “Angoteam” (a merger of UCAN and UAN students), Instic’s “Faal Instic Bravant” and “Mecupale” composed of UAN graduate students.
The jury was chaired by Naiole Cohen and included academics Manuel Alves da Rocha, Carlos Rosado de Carvalho, Leonor de Sá Machado and Filomena Oliveira. The competition is promoted internationally by SDG (Simulators and Management Models), represented in 36 countries, and managed in Angola by Soik Investments.
Remember that ISAF stands out for the second year in a row. In 2023, it sponsored the Olimpo group, which won the national championship that year. The group, composed of students Emanuel Gonçalves, Fábio Komba, Ismael Coluna, Euclides Quitumba and Domingos Moreira, will represent the country at the international finals, which will be held in New Delhi, India, from September 26 to 28, 2024.
The Global Management Challenge aims to develop management and leadership skills, provide practical experience in a business environment, foster a competitive spirit and strategic capabilities, promote interaction between students, universities and companies, and recognize emerging talents in the field of management.
