Iranian MP Mohammad Qassem Osmani has called on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to step down in response to the assassination of Palestinian Hamas movement leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran.
Musavat.com quoted foreign media as saying that Osmani said during the parliamentary session: “I hope there will be another ‘honest commitment’ operation as a blood feud with Ismail Haniyeh.” … We did not agree on anything except the death of Netanyahu. “
Osmani stressed that Israel has become so shameless that it has shed the blood of its guests in Tehran. The politician added that Iran will choose the right moment to avenge Haniyeh.
On August 3, the Wall Street Journal quoted an unnamed diplomat in Tehran as saying that Iran intends to attack Israel in response to the killing of Ismail Haniyeh. It was noted that attempts by different countries to persuade Tehran not to escalate the situation “have not worked and will not work.” The diplomat stressed: “Israel has crossed all red lines, and the response will be swift and severe.”
