Iran’s Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday that calls by France, Germany and Britain for Israel to exercise restraint “lack political logic and violate the principles of international law.”

The three European countries issued a statement on Monday calling on Iran and its allies to refrain from attacks on Israel following the killing of Ismail Haniyeh, the political leader of the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas, in Tehran last month.

Tehran and its allies Hamas and Lebanon’s Shiite Hezbollah have accused Israel of carrying out the assassination. The Israeli government has not claimed responsibility.

“The E3 countries did not raise any objection to the crimes of the Zionist regime (Israel) in their statement, but shamelessly asked Iran not to respond to the violation of its sovereignty and territorial integrity,” Kanani said.

Kanani said Tehran was determined to stop Israel and called on Paris, Berlin and London to “reject once and for all the Gaza war and Israel’s acts of war.”
