The Bimphad, Ketua Mzambi and Etu Lene groups will present their theatrical performances on the stage of the 9th International Theatre Tour, held since last July at the Elinga Teatro in Luanda, with national theatre companies and foreigners
The play “IMBI”, created by the Grub-Bimpard core and by former students of the Higher School of Arts (now the School of Arts), will be staged today at 7 pm, recreating our rituals, songs, and, in artistic terms, dances, stories and proverbs.
Mbandu Luvumbo Nsingui, coordinator of the arts research centre, said the work was the culmination of research by four students for their master’s degree theses.
“After graduating from the drama program, the troupe received four Master’s degrees in Performing Arts from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. This is a production starring four masters of performing arts, especially drama, and many students wanted to see their teachers on stage,” he said.
The play is the second production of the troupe in its four years of existence and has been performed at the 6th Luanda International Theatre Festival, commemorating the 36th anniversary of the creation of Elinga Teatro.
Due to the positive response received at the event, Mbandu is looking forward to the band’s debut at CIT and hopes it will have the same impact as he believes it is an event of great significance in promoting performing arts in the country.
Tomorrow, Friday the 9th, at the same time and place, the Ketua Mzambi band will premiere the play “5 Minutes”.
