The government held an inter-ministerial meeting at the Government Palace on August 1, 2024 to coordinate security activities within the scope of various events and official visits of dignitaries to the country. 
The meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão and attended by Agio Pereira, Minister of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers; Sergio de Jesus Fernández da Costa Oláin, Minister of Justice; Donaciano do Rosario Gomes, Minister of Defense; Francisco da Costa Guterres, Minister of the Interior; and Longuinhos Monteiro, Director of the National Intelligence Service.
The meeting aims to ensure effective coordination between ministries and security services to ensure the protection of tourists attending important events in Timor-Leste. Among these events, the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Popular Consultation on August 30 will be attended by UN Secretary-General António Guterres, heads of government, governors and other dignitaries. Indian President Draupadi Murmu will pay an official visit to India on August 10.
