Inside TV Monster: This is what an evening out in the Big Brother studio feels like

It is 9:30 pm on Monday, June 10, and there is still an hour until the show starts. At the entrance of Telefé in Martínez (Greater Buenos Aires), the street is empty. There is no sign that the most watched TV show in the Rio de La Plata region is about to start there: Big Brother. There were also 200 spectators inside ready to cheer for their favorite players.

This was a special night, as there was usually no forum event on Mondays, but that day, in addition to The last team to be eliminated was the Virginia Demo TeamAdmission of relatives of players who continue to participate in the program led by Santiago del Moro.

After passing the security booth, you can see several former participants, all smiling and chatting, some sitting in the armchairs in the aisle waiting to be called to their seats next to the stands.

You have to go through several corridors to reach the majestic Studio 1 (the same studio that Susana Jiménez uses for her show), where the reality show gala takes place. That night, only half of the stands were occupied, and they were packed with 200 spectators holding flags, T-shirts, posters and headbands with their favorite players; minutes before the broadcast, the slogans “Furia a la Final”, “Las Vizcacheras”, “Nico, Nico” and “Tomátela” began to overlap.

To make the waiting more lively, they played with water bottles in the stands, while others practiced Tik Tok steps, and everyone had a great time.

They prepare them from the production and tell them what the dynamic of the night will be like. They also ask not to insult or attack the panelists or players. “The idea is to enjoy the show,” they say, to which the audience responds with an enthusiastic “yes.”

One commented: “For those who have never come, we have to remember what would have happened if Sandy had entered the house?” “We remain silent,” they responded.

“Look how they knew, because yesterday (Sunday the 9th, when the elimination was decided between Giuliana “Fria” Scaglione and Demo) they didn’t know. They seemed to be somewhere else,” the intern added sarcastically.

Everything about Big Brother is impressive. There are eight cameras and a crane, and about twenty people moving from here to there, setting up microphones, checking lights, and preparing everything needed for transmission; plus people working in the control room and in a house a few blocks from Telefé.

Former participants entered the stands and greeted them. Some approached them and kissed them, others asked for videos and selfies. The security team, which numbered about eight people, warned that when the transmission began, the interaction would end, although it was not an easy task.

The group arrives and greets. Sol Perez works with a team to take her photos and post them on social networks. Gastón Trezeguet, Ceferino Reato and Laura Ubfal take their seats, while Eliana Guercio arrives on a skateboard due to a leg problem. Once in position, he puts on knee-high boots.

Santiago del Moro appears to a standing ovation. Driver enters from the other side of the studio and interacts with those present; he asks if they are okay and laughs at some of the screams. The same euphoric reaction occurs when Virginia appears. The crowd goes wild and starts chanting his name.

They announced over the loudspeaker that the show would begin in five minutes; time was allotted for a conversation with Trezeguet.

“What I like about this edition is that it has a playfulness to it. I appreciate that they use any kind of tools. As long as it’s within the rules, it’s fine by me,” commented the first Argentinian edition finalist.

“For me, betrayal and lies work really well for the game. More than that, I celebrate it, and that’s what I see as interesting. Just like in Trick, if you lie to someone in the environment, it’s part of the game. They don’t tell you: ‘What a bad person you are, how could you lie’. It’s the same, it’s a game,” he added.

Therefore, when Trezeguet hears some former players (usually those who were eliminated by “Furia”) talking about “values”, he doesn’t like it at all.

“I like game winning, not ‘values,'” he commented with a smile, while Lucia Maidana approached him and said: “Anger.”

Del Moro greets everyone, introduces the panelists and the newly eliminated, and she talks and debates with everyone about her stay in the most famous house on television.

Nearly an hour after the debate ended, relatives appeared to begin entering the house days after the debate. Many of them had been in the same gallery encouraging their family members until the day before.

Previous participants watched the entrance from their positions and greeted everyone before entering the house, as they had known each other for a long time.

In the stands, they talked about Ufar’s smile, and Coy reunited with his sister, “Furia.” “Look at her, she’s so excited,” they commented softly.

Before Del Moro finished his conversation with the participants in the room, the production staff called for applause as the broadcast returned to the studio. Everyone stopped and obeyed the order as if they had stepped on springs.

An 18-minute pause was announced over the same loudspeaker as before, and although the stands could not leave the site, previous participants went out onto a makeshift terrace to smoke and talk.

Some are looking at their phones, others are taking photos for social networks, Lisandro is talking to a photographer about a concert they attended last weekend; Zoe is worrying about finding a sushi restaurant that delivers food in the middle of the night.

They returned to the studio, and a few minutes later the show ended. The former players and panelists headed for the exits, followed a few minutes later by people in the stands. Some went to the parking lot to ask for photos or to say hello, while others went to rest and prepare for the next party. This scene was repeated until July 7, when this episode of Big Brother ended.
