Inserra SupermarketFounded by Patsy Insella in 1954, it has always remained true to its mission of lending a helping hand to those in need.
Over the years, the company and its foundation have provided volunteer and financial support to fund research into treatments for a variety of chronic diseases, including leukemia, childhood cancer, diabetes and multiple sclerosis.
Earlier this week, Inserra Supermarket launched Diabetes Research Institute Foundation and picked up a check for $109,356 at a ShopRite store in Jersey City.
The donation is part of the company’s “Dollar Fights Diabetes” fundraiser being held in June at all 23 ShopRite stores in Bergen, Hudson, Passaic and Rockland counties, New York, as well as PriceRite Markets in Garfield and Paterson.
The event raised $54,678, which was subsequently matched by a donation from the Insera Family Foundation.
Funds raised go directly to support innovative research into treatments at the Diabetes Research Institute.
Shop Rite in Jersey City was also recognized for being the top-raising store at the event, raising $10,470.
