Things got dramatic when Ingebrigtsen led Timothy Cheruiyot by three percent. The win came on March 28, 1979.

– Total control. It makes no difference if you win a little or a lot. A win is a win, a delighted Ingebrigtsen told NRK.

– I used all my strength to dive. I knew from previous experience that if you are upright in the air when crossing the finish line, your chest tends to be more forward than if you are standing upright. This also worked today, says Ingebrigtsen.

After crossing the finish line, he celebrated with the mascot and received a hug from Bislett General Steiner Horn.

Nalver Gillette Nodos was still sitting, holding a shoe in his hand. He got away successfully, but lost a shoe a few hundred meters later. The time was 3/34/86, 13th place.

– I’ve never done this before, so it’s a bit unusual. Nordås told NRK that he ended up with a sting on the sole of his foot.

Nordås and Ingebrigtsen will be at the Rome EC again in about a week.

Jakob Ingebrigtsen opened the season with a second place in the English mile at the Diamond League in Eugene last weekend. There he showed that he is back in good form again after an injury-plagued autumn and winter. The 23-year-old once again proved that he can be relied upon at the EC and Olympic level.

– He is now much better than I thought, ”said brother Henrik Ingebrigtsen.
