Indus Motor exports Toyota cars made in Pakistan

Karachi, July 31, 2024: Indian Motors Corporation (IMC) announced its pioneering export plans for the first time at a ceremony held at its manufacturing facility at Port Qasim Authority in Karachi. The ceremony was attended by the Federal Minister for Industries and Production, Mr. Rana Tanveer Hussain, EDB CEO, Engineer Khuda Buksh, SIFC representatives, various government officials and Toyota senior leaders including Mr. Kazunari Iguchi, Executive Vice President, Toyota Motor Asia.

This milestone marks the implementation of IMC’s strategic plan to start exporting automobiles and components, marking its significant contribution to Pakistan’s economy and the global automotive market. The company’s exports include Toyota Fortuner, Hilux and Corolla Cross models, which are exported to Oceania countries. This move reflects IMC’s commitment to promote the development of Pakistan’s automotive industry on the global stage.

Federal Minister for Industries and Production Rana Tanvir stressed, “We are proud to see Indus Motor, one of Pakistan’s renowned companies, contributing to exports. The government’s AIDEP 21-26 policy aims to boost the automotive sector by encouraging exports of local components and vehicles. IMC has taken the initiative to lead the industry and set a benchmark for other companies in the industry. We are committed to supporting the automotive sector in every way possible.”

Mr. Kazunari Iguchi, Executive Vice President of Toyota Motor Asia, added: “The collaboration with IMC has been long-term and fruitful. Toyota believes that before we build cars, we must first develop people, and this initiative is a testament to the improvement and training of Pakistan’s human resources skills. IMC continues to play a pioneering role and has contributed greatly to the establishment of Pakistan’s indigenous automobile industry by creating a complete value chain that includes over 50 component manufacturers producing over PKR 250 million worth of components per day, 57 independently owned authorized dealers providing sales and after-sales services to customers, and directly and indirectly employing over 450,000 people across Pakistan.
