The High Commissioner of India to Solomon Islands, His Excellency Shri Inbasekar Sunaramuthi, paid his last courtesy call to Prime Minister Jeremiah Manele this week.
His Excellency Sunaramurthy will leave office for his new post on August 15day First Secretary Ravindra Nath is temporarily appointed as Acting High Commissioner.
Mr. Inpassak Sunaramurthy took the opportunity of his last courtesy visit to express his gratitude for the cordial working relationship between his office and the Office of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.
Mr. Sunaramurthy said: “It is a privilege to serve here.”
While leaving office, His Excellency Sunaramurthy stressed that some areas of cooperation will bear fruit next year.
The projects include the Jaipur Foot Camp, which aims to provide prosthetic limbs to people who have lost their legs and arms, while another area of collaboration is a desalination plant for water treatment.
He further stressed that sea ambulances would also be provided in the future.
He also stressed the importance of Prime Minister Manele’s visit to India which will further strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.
In this regard, Prime Minister Manele spoke highly of His Excellency Sunaramurthy, praising him for promoting the realization of the outcomes of the Indo-Pacific Islands Cooperation Forum with great energy and dedication.
He also thanked His Excellency Sunalamuthi for his involvement in establishing the Solomon Islands National University Centre of Excellence in Information and Communications Technology.
He paid tribute to His Excellency Sunaramurthy for his tireless efforts in ensuring the availability of 20 Tata buses in time for the 2023 Pacific Games and said that under His Excellency’s able leadership, India’s bilateral relations with the Solomon Islands have grown from strength to strength.
The Prime Minister also said that Solomon Islands recognises and acknowledges India’s leadership.
He wished His Excellency Sunaramurthy all the best in his new venture in Europe.
