JAKARTA (ANTARA) – The 79th Independence Day commemoration ceremony will be held on August 17 in Nusantara, the new capital of Indonesia, and the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhajir Effendi said.
The ceremony in Nusantara, East Kalimantan will be presided over directly by President Joko Widodo, who will be accompanied by President-elect Prabowo Subianto, he revealed after a meeting at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Monday.
State guests, including ambassadors of friendly countries, will be invited to attend the ceremony in the new capital.
“The ambassadors will attend the ceremony in Nusantara and they will not stay there overnight. So after the ceremony, they will return,” Efendi explained.
Meanwhile, the 79th Independence Day commemoration ceremony in Jakarta will be presided over by Vice President Ma’ruf Amin, accompanied by Vice President-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
Efendi said the presidency stressed during Monday’s meeting the need to attach importance to invitations to national figures, such as former presidents and vice presidents.
Efendi said the meeting was attended by representatives of various ministries and stakeholders, stressing the importance of inviting national figures such as former presidents and vice presidents. The discussion also touched on entertainment activities organized by the State Secretariat.
Efendi said that 90% of the preparations for the Nusantara VVIP Airport have been completed.
“The VVIP airport is expected to be completed by the end of July to ensure it can host the ceremony,” he said.
