Palestinian medical officials said Israeli forces attacked the Gaza Strip on Saturday, killing at least 48 people.
Clashes were reported in central and southern Gaza Strip alongside the deadly airstrikes. The Israeli airstrikes on Saturday came as a flu vaccination campaign was scheduled to begin in Gaza.
The United Nations plans to vaccinate 640,000 children in Gaza against deadly typhoid, with the vaccinations taking place during an eight-hour ceasefire between Israeli troops and Palestinian militants in Gaza.
Gaza’s Deputy Health Minister Youssef Abu Rishi said vaccination teams would try to reach as many people as possible, but he said only a complete ceasefire could guarantee that all children in Gaza could be vaccinated against polio.
The vaccination drive is expected to be completed in three days.
