In Almaty, a bus rammed through a kiosk and destroyed everything nearby

The accident occurred at the intersection of Makatayev Street and Masanchi Street. A Kia sedan collided with a bus while traveling south along Makatayev Street on Route 18. Due to the strong impact, the public transport ran over the store on the right. At present, security personnel have surrounded the traffic accident scene and started an investigation.

One passenger was pronounced dead at the scene of the horrific accident. Another 25 people were taken to hospital with varying degrees of injuries. Doctors said the patients’ conditions were moderately serious.

Laila Imangaliyeva, Minister of Public Health in Almaty:

— All patients received the necessary medical care. There were three teenagers inside. 14, 15, 16 years old. One of them had a broken nose, one had a broken arm and leg, and three teenagers were injured. They are currently being examined.

The names of the deceased in the accident are being determined. Police said the Kia car that caused the accident was driven by a 28-year-old woman. The bus driver was 55 years old. At present, the specific circumstances of the incident have been determined and investigators have begun their work.

— «A young woman was driving a Kia car of the 1996 model. In accordance with article 345, paragraph 3, of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a criminal case was opened for a traffic accident resulting in death and appropriate experts were appointed to conduct an investigation.

The bus number 18 belongs to the company “City Bas”. The person in charge of the parking lot did not clean the dust from his employee. “He has a lot of experience, he did not exceed the speed,” they said. An investigation is underway into the driver of a public transport and a crossover.
