What tourism is there in Africa?

Across Africa, the sector remains little thought and debated. According to the World Tourism Organization, the continent attracts 66 million tourists by 2023, with Spain alone receiving 85 million. Differences in natural resources, infrastructure, political choices and security issues strongly influence the development of activity. Beach tourism or adventure tours? Mass offering or reserved for a “lucky few”? State push or private initiative? In this series, Young Africa explores the strategic choices made by different African countries to attract and satisfy more tourists.
