Imane Khalif supports Tebboune and explains why

Algerian Olympic champion Imane Khelif is popular in campaign Abdelmadjid Tebboune. Strongly supports the presidential candidate seeking re-election as head of state in the early presidential elections on September 7.

On Sunday, August 25, Abdelmadjid Tebboune was in Oran for his second campaign meeting, having held one a week earlier in Constantine. A large crowd of people (17,000 according to his campaign managers) from 11 provinces in western Algeria came to show their support.

The Algerian Olympic champion explained in a statement to the media that she is grateful to Abdelmadjid Tebboune, who has always supported her.

“The President of the Republic has always supported and encouraged me. The day has come when I must be present, speak for him and stand by him in the campaign for Algeria, the new Algeria.” said Iman Khalif.

The boxer was surprised by the atmosphere at the Oran gym. ”The public was present and supported the President of the Republic. We are proud of this, we are proud of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune“, she added.

On August 9, Imane Khelif defeated China’s Liu Yang in the -66 kg final to win Algeria’s second gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, after gymnast Kaylia Nemour won the uneven bars on Sunday, August 4.

Before reaching the highest podium of the 2024 Olympics, Imane Khelif had to face a fierce global campaign, even including leaders of certain countries such as Prime Minister Georgia Meloni or former presidents such as Donald Trump. The boxer, who was unfairly accused of being transgender, was able to get the support of the whole of Algeria, including President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
