Ugandan music legend Joseph Mayanja aka Jose Chameleone will celebrate his 25th anniversary in the music industry with a concert titled “Legends of Gold” on Saturday, August 31 at the Kampala Serena Hotel.

I&M Bank Uganda, which celebrated its 50th anniversary at the same venue in June, is the official banking partner of the concert. The bank’s partnership with the concert not only furthers its illustrious heritage but also underscores its commitment to supporting milestone events in Uganda’s cultural landscape.

“I&M Bank is honoured to be part of this landmark concert. This is a follow up to our Golden Jubilee celebrations held at the same venue a few weeks ago. We are committed to enriching Uganda’s cultural scene and we believe that by supporting important figures such as Jose Chameleone, we will play a role in shaping the identity and traditions of our community,” said Annette Nakiyaga, Head of Marketing and Corporate Affairs at I&M Bank.

Nakiyaga added that their Golden Jubilee celebrations are still ongoing and there will be more exciting events before the end of the year.

Tickets for the Golden Legends concert were initially priced at $100 (Uganda Sh370,000), but concert organizer and comedian Hannington Bugingo said they had reduced the price to Uganda Sh200,000 after discussions with I&M Bank and other partners. A table of eight costs Uganda Sh5 million.

The “Golden Legend” concert comes a year and six months after Chameleone rocked Kampala with his Gwanga Mujje show. Chameleone described this weekend’s show as more than just a concert. “Last year it was a concert but this year it is a celebration of my legend,” the Leon Island boss said, promising revellers an unforgettable experience.

To mark his 25th anniversary in the industry, Chameleone will be performing some of his greatest hits over the years, blending nostalgic songs with exciting new tunes. Classics such as “Bageya”, “Jamila”, “Mama Rhoda”, “Kipepewo”, “Basiima Ogenze”, “Befula”, “Nekolela Mali”, “Mambo Bado”, “Samwa Samwa”, “Shida za Dunia”, “Bauda” and “Wale Wale”, as well as still popular songs such as “Kigwa Leero”, “Champion”, “Mateeka”, “Baliwa”, “Bolingo Ya Nzambe” and “Forever” will all be part of the night’s exciting performance.

Chameleone began his music career in 1998 on the famous Kenyan record label Ogopa Deejays and released his debut single “Bageya” featuring Kenyan music talent Redsan.
