iciHaiti – India: Working to improve blood supply in Haiti

Minister of Health Dr Georges Fils-Brignol received a nine-ton shipment of health equipment donated by India on the tarmac of Toussaint Louverture Airport.
The equipment includes: 24,000 blood bags (18,000 double bags and 6,000 triple bags), immunohematology reagents, infectious pathogen screening reagents, 20,000 transfusion sets, Elisa washers and other collection equipment.
Reagents for compatibility tests, blood typing and screening tests related to genes that can transmit diseases through blood are expected to arrive next week.
For Dr. Ernst Noël, Director of the National Blood Transfusion Center (CNTS), this is a significant contribution that will better meet the country’s growing blood needs.
