iciHaiti - Attention: Strict measures taken by the Ministry of Interior

The Minister of the Interior and Local Authorities (MICT), Garry Conille, has learned that some people without rights or titles are in possession of false documents: identity documents (badges) and passes with MICT titles. He would like to point out that since April 2021, all identity documents (badges) have been officially suspended pending the implementation of the renewal procedure.

In line with the regulations adopted by the Government to rectify and clean up the functioning of public institutions, the Ministry of the Interior and Local Authorities announced a series of measures:

1.- As of the date of this notification, all previously granted “passes”, “exemptions” and other documents of a similar nature are revoked and cancelled. Any person who wishes to enjoy the privileges and benefits granted by such documents will be subject to the sanctions and other prosecutions provided by the law.

2.- The Ministry of Transport has requested all vehicles to change their license plates and all users to report to the MICT General Administration to complete the necessary subsequent administrative formalities.

3.- While waiting for the issuance of the new license plates, the users of the Ministry of Transport vehicles will be issued a driving permit. In the absence of this permit, the Haitian National Police is authorized to conduct all useful investigations to verify the identity of the driver and passengers of the vehicle in question.

4.- Finally, the Ministry of the Interior takes this opportunity to remind once again the users of the Ministry’s vehicles and other equipment, those who do not have ownership or qualifications, that in order to enjoy this privilege, they should take all measures to return the said vehicles and equipment to the General Administration for the necessary follow-up.

From September 1, 2024, vehicles not returned will be reported to the police authorities for useful purposes.
