Strange Internet Fraud A 59-year-old man died.

For months, he believed he was in a relationship, then engaged to singer Dua Lipa.

They cleverly and cunningly deceived him for several months, and when he discovered the truth, he decided to end his life.

Đanfranko Bonći (59), or “Franco” as his friends call him, works as a doorman in a modern apartment building in the heart of Brera, Milan’s fashionable district.

He bragged to his friends about his relationship with Duo Lipa (28), a Kosovar-British singer popular among millions. In the end, he even told his friends that they were “engaged”. Once, when a colleague explained to him that he had fallen for a scam, he disappeared.

The last picture of Frank captured by the security camera was taken on Saturday, March 23. He seemed to sink into the ground until his name reappeared on Monday, July 29. Unfortunately, according to DNA testing conducted on the body pulled from the Ida River on June 22.

He was wearing jeans and a light jacket. The usual flat cap was worn on his head.

According to Italian media reports, he was last seen on camera in front of the building on Via Borgonovo. At 6:55 pm on March 23, calls from his family, son and friends went unanswered. Franco was missing.

He left his wallet and cards at home. First, he left a cryptic message on Facebook, which made those closest to him anxious.

The post read: “This is the last article I will publish and one of the last actions in my life. The reason is a breakup that I cannot bear.”

Before that Saturday, for a long time, for months, Bunzi had been chatting with “her”. More precisely, with someone hiding behind a fake profile of Dua Lipa, from whom he received declarations of love and photos. Until he was sure that he was in love (“I’m engaged to Dua” he wrote in a message to a friend).

Then the fake Dua Lipa started asking for money. It was not a large amount at first but it was always returned to win his trust.

Then, at the end of February, Franco withdrew 2,500 euros twice, as his accounts show.

Since his disappearance, a case of incitement to suicide is under investigation. It is speculated that Bunzi may have been a victim of a serial scammer setting up an online trap to collect money from overseas. He may also have been offered fraudulent investments in Bitcoin. However, nothing is known about him.

It wasn’t until June 22 that fishermen found a body near Croto d’Adda in the Cremona area. There were no signs of violence on the body, and it was unrecognizable due to being in the water for so long. Only DNA allowed them to trace his identity.

“What he said finally happened. I am sad and shocked. Rest in peace, Dad. No matter what you did, we will always love you, don’t suffer anymore,” wrote his son Luka, according to Blic.
