Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan sent a congratulatory message to French President Emmanuel Macron on the occasion of National Day. The message reads:

“Dear President, dear Emmanuel,

On behalf of the Armenian people and myself, I extend warm congratulations to you and the brotherly French people on the occasion of our National Day on July 14.

This day 235 years ago is remembered in world history not only as the victory day of the French people’s just struggle for the supreme values of freedom, equality, fraternity, etc., but also as the victory day of universal values, human rights and democracy.

Inspired by these noble values of universal importance, many Armenians who survived the Armenian genocide and found refuge in France have given their lives, even sacrificed, for France, its freedoms and the values it professes. In this context, I would like to thank the highest French State for the tributes paid to the Armenians, including the hero of the resistance, Misak Manouchian, whose remains were transferred to the Pantheon in February of this year by your decision.

We attach great importance to the special relationship between our two countries, which is based on a sincere friendship that has stood the test of a century and a solid foundation of civilizations and values. The close high-level political dialogue and the flourishing cooperation in various fields have demonstrated the nature and content of this relationship and provided an opportunity to plan the way forward for the development of strategic cooperation between our two countries.

I would like to thank you in particular for your decisive commitment and direct role in supporting the Armenian people in overcoming the challenges facing Armenia, and for your ongoing efforts to achieve lasting peace and stability in our region.

I would like to take this opportunity to once again invite you to pay a state visit to Armenia in September this year.

On this day that symbolizes the unity and heroic history of France, I once again congratulate you and extend to you my best wishes for peace, development and prosperity. Please accept, Mr. President, my deepest respects.

Brother, Nikol Pashinyan. “
