The Forum aims to highlight Australia’s cultural diversity and its commitment to harmony, as reflected in the Harmony Day celebrations held on 21 March each year. It seeks to address Oceania’s complex media landscape, which is characterised by a fusion of rich cultural diversity and pressing social issues. By exploring the history, culture and social dynamics of Australia and other Oceania countries, the Forum aims to develop strategies to promote a more inclusive media environment. It also aims to address prevalent issues such as fake news and biased reporting that undermine the credibility and effectiveness of media in the region.
