The Húnaþing Vestra website states that the city plans to accept a proposal from the Ministry of Universities, Industry and Innovation to install fibre optic connections to homes in the city’s urban area that do not already have them. See more here. But before starting construction based on the grant from the fund, the municipality must check the following points:
- Whether the electronic communications company intends to connect subsidized addresses on a market basis. A list of eligible addresses can be obtained from Húnaþing Vestra.
- Is it the intention of the electronic communication companies to lay and connect their own fiber optic networks in the canals/pipes at the expense of the municipality.
